Seeds: Although when thinking of the leaders of the United Kingdom, many of us recall images of elegant kings and queens, princes and princesses, and dukes and duchesses, the fact of the matter is that the real power lies with the Prime Minister. However, pasty old Prime Ministers will never be quite as cute as this. While the royal family is viewed as the face of the UK, the Prime Minister is the true head of the government.
Core: David Cameron, the now resigned Prime Minister of Britain, recently went down in history as the Prime Minister to see “Brexit” come to life. Some call “Brexit” a global catastrophe, while others argue it will preserve British culture.... or not even that. Either way, Cameron has decided to resign after Britain voted in support of the Brexit, a decision he seemed extremely jolly about, reasoning that he cannot be the legitimate leader of a country if he does not agree with the country’s views. Furthermore, it is conventional for the Prime Minister to resign in the UK if he or she is defeated by a major vote.
Skin: British politics continue to be unsteady in the wake of the Brexit vote, and that instability has not been aided by the selection of Theresa May as the country’s new Prime Minister. In fact, other European countries have already taken issue with some of May’s early decisions as Prime Minister.
Leaves: Yesterday (July 13th, 2016), Theresa May, the second female Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher, became Britain’s new Prime Minister after David Cameron. She has already named six cabinet members, including a seat for her previous rival, Boris Johnson and has publicly stated that she will lead in the same spirit as Cameron and fight for everyone, not just the privileged.
