Seeds: As the primary elections are winding down to a close, and America becomes more accustomed to the idea of either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton (or some of us are trying to avoid it) becoming the next President of the United States, we have now turned our attention to the selection of the candidates’ potential running mates.
Core: Depending on the news source you’re reading, the possible picks for Vice President varies greatly. For now, I’ll just talk about a few.
Tim Kaine: He is the current Senator of Virginia, possible pick by Clinton because he will probably pull Virginia, a battleground state (a state that does not historically vote either Republican or Democratic).
Elizabeth Warren: She is a Senator from Massachusetts, possible pick because, well, she’s a woman and mostly beloved by Democratic Party. Furthermore, she has already begun to speak out against presumptive Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
Chris Christie: He is the current Governor of New Jersey and was the former adversary of Donald Trump in the race for the Republican nomination for president. He is a possible pick because of his early endorsement of Donald Trump and his government experience.
Newt Gingrich: He is the former Speaker of the House, good running mate for Trump due to, once again, his experience with working in government and his name recognition in Washington.
Skin: So far, news sources can only speculate about potential running mates, as nothing is official yet. However, for all we know, none of their guesses are correct and the actual Vice President picks will be people we never expected.
Leaves: The Vice President picks will be revealed at the Republican and Democratic National Conventions later this month. Until then, the speculation will continue.
Food For Thought: What do you think about the Presidential candidates? Who do you think they will pick as their running mates? Do you think who they choose will influence how they will do in the election?
