Seeds: In the years following the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001, the city has become extremely wary of the prospect of another large terrorist attack. Since that day in 2001, the city has not been the victim of another large attack, until this weekend.
Core: Last Saturday (September 17, 2016), a homemade bomb was detonated in the neighborhood of Chelsea, New York. Although no one was killed, the bomb did injure a total of 29 people. The morning of the attack, a bomb was detonated near the sight of a charity race in New Jersey, but no injuries or fatalities were reported. After the attack in Chelsea, government officials discovered two more bombs were discovered in Manhattan.
Skin: The attacks have sent waves of fear rippling through the US. With the attacks so close to the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, many are on high alert.
Leaves: This morning (September 29, 2016) officials engaged in a shootout with suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami that eventually resulted in the suspect’s arrest.
